How the license works

Syntropy is Fair Source software under the Business Source License 1.1. Development, evaluation, research, and personal use are free for everyone, and production use is included while your organization's revenue and funding each stay under $1M. Above that threshold, production deployments require a commercial license — included with Cloud Pro, or licensed directly for self-hosted Enterprise. No one may offer Syntropy itself as a hosted or managed service. Every released version automatically converts to the open source Apache 2.0 license four years after release, so adopting Syntropy is never a bet on the vendor.
